my friends. long time no blog. i wish i could say i missed you...but i haven't. i needed this little break. it's not you. it's ME. i swear.
but i'm starting to get the itch to re-enter the blogosphere, so my (unintentionally) long hiatus may soon be over. the problem is, where to start?
last you heard i was bemoaning my long hours on the grammy's and pining for my weekend in the mountains.
well, i can tell you that those mountains were gorgeous. and that i've become quite the awesome snowboarder. sure, you won't be calling me "shawn white" any time soon, but i'm much better than i've ever been, due mainly to my sweet new board more so than my skillz. but those skills are multiplyin'.
and yes, the grammy's did suck ass. not the show. the show was pretty good, actually. it was just the overall experience. but i survived. and i now have a fresh new major television production under my belt and on top of my resume. while i could write blogs and blogs about my experience, i won't. because i'm LAZY. so i now present to you...
"Matt White's Gr@mmy Highlights/Lowlights"
Highlight: I got to pee next to Tony Bennett backstage in the Staple's Center men's room.
Lowlight: Tony had a very weak stream. Not a good sign for his prostate. Sad.
Highlight: I got to meet one of the Beatles!
Lowlight: The Beatle was Ringo.
Highlight: I got a front row seat to watch Kanye, Alicia, Beyoncé, Tina, etc rehearse and perform.
Lowlight: By that point I would've traded them all for my pillow.
Highlight: I got to work closely with some of the most successful producers, directors, etc working in TV.
Lowlight: I'm pretty sure none of them remember/even knew my name.
Highlight: I got put up in a hotel so I didn't have to drive home late every night.
Lowlight: Said hotel was a Holiday Inn.
Highlight: When I asked one of the "older" directors who had my job on the grammy's 25+ years ago "how she did it?" (meaning, how did she survive the workload/crazy hours?), she instantly replied, "Cocaine. Lots and lots of blow." (not a joke)
Lowlight: Drug dealers don't take credit cards.
that, in an e-nutshell, was my grammy's experience. been there, done that. moving on. next. never again.
right now i'm back at my old desk at Last C0mic Standing, Season 6. and it's good to be back. we're taping the majority of our shows in Vegas this year, so it looks like i'm gonna be spendin' some Q.T. in Sin City over the next several months.
Lowlight: They're putting us up at Bally's.
The whistle just blew, folks. and i am outta here! i'll try to post some cool pics soon. thanks for checkin' in.
til next time...
